Our Future Transportation

Our future is dependent on change and so is our transportation. Without change, everything would stay the same and be so boring. The world now is fighting hard with pollution and transportation is the main concern. Whether you drive a smart car or travel by maglev train, you are experiencing the future of transportation expand right before your eyes. This essay will provide you will different examples as well as sources of the changes in transportation in our near future.

Our Future Transportation
Electricity is something we depend on in our day to day life. We cook food, wash clothes, take baths, communicate with other, drive to different places, etc. Can you imagine life without electricity? Can you go a day without your cell phone? I know I cannot go an hour without my phone being right by my side so just imagine the future of cars. We cannot function without electricity. Electricity is the key to our future.

Researchers for many years have tried to find ways to better transportation. Whether you are traveling by car, plane or boat you will always wish there was a better way; a faster way. As a biomedical engineering student, I cannot help per se with bettering the transportation efforts, but maybe some of my civil engineering friends can. Discussion

Air pollution is on the rise as well as gas prices. Car shoppers and/or car owners are opting out of cars that run on gasoline and trading them in for vehicles powered by electricity. The ultimate goal of future transportation is to eliminate air pollution completely. Future transportation welcomes individuals to carpool or take public transportation to reduce air pollution. Another future invention is self-driving cars. The use of sensor and magnets on both the car and the road are quite pricey however it will make the car driverless and will take over for short periods of time. Volvo has begun experimenting with magnet-based cars and found them to be quite tricky and has even questioned its reliability. Electric vehicles and magnetic cars are the next best thing! We have all seen commercials of cars and how they promote the advantage of having a car that will automatically hit the brakes for you or even park its self for you. I am sure that in the near future, cars will all have voice recognition software and you will be able to just speak to your car and it will take you wherever it is that you would like to go. Thinking about the elderly or even kids that are too young to drive, this could be a problem. Hopefully this aspect of future transportation will not aide for those who cannot or do not need to drive because in case the software fails, there needs to be a capable person who can take over the vehicle.

Electric cars do not pollute the environment with fossil fuels and electricity is the best way to power a car. Chevy, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Ford have all experimented with electric cars. Although they may not be a fast as cars ran off of gasoline, they do not pollute the air. Recharging the batteries is the only con to having an electric vehicle because it is not as easy as filling up a regular vehicle with gasoline.

Smart cars may not be innovatively cute but they are smart. Fitting in the electric car category, these cars are good for congested traffic. Think about places like New York where most people opt to take cabs. If you have a smart car, chances of having you heavily polluting the air is slim. When you make cars smaller, it helps with the congestion and traffic moves a lot smoother.
